The theme of this years 4th of July Celebration is Mas(k)querade.

We invite you to flaunt your mask (and costume, as well) and join in our mask and costume contest. To be eligible to win, simply take a photo of mask/costume and tag @salidabusinessalliance on Facebook or Instagram to be entered. Prizes will be awarded for the winners! In addition to the theme of our day, we’ll also be hosting the following activities. All are welcome and all activities are free, but please see the details and registration info below.

For the Creative: Chalk Art in Alpine Park: 2:00-4:00 pm

For the Family: Stationary Mas(k)querade Parade: 4:00-6:00 pm

For the Sports-minded: Lights with Bikes: 9:00 pm under the nearly full moon (download Bike Parade Route map 2020 [pdf] )

For the Thirsty, Hungry and Curious: Excellent Food and Drinks are available at restaurants and bars throughout Salida, along with boutique stores. Shop, Eat, Enjoy the Promenade.

Event Details:

Chalk Art in Alpine Park: This activity takes place at Alpine Park from 2:00-4:00 pm. Final chalk artwork will be completed by 4pm. Enjoy a walk around the park as you take in the creativity that Salida has to offer. Want to be a chalk art creator? Please send your name and contact info to SBAsalida@gmail.com. We have limited space, so register soon! You will be put on our creator list and be given complimentary chalk and a goodie bag of awesome items for your participation. We will provide you with a start time as we get closer to the 4th.

Stationary Mas(k)querade Parade: Unique times call for unique ideas. Join in our Mas(k)querade Parade fun by dressing up in your mask and costume, both parade participants and spectators are invited to vie for some excellent prizes. To enter, tag @salidabusinessalliance on Facebook or Instagram in your photo showing your mask and/or costume. So what is a “stationary parade”? Glad you asked. It’s basically a parade at your leisure. Walk, drive or ride around Thonhoff Park from 4:00-6:00 pm to see the floats and decorated vehicles celebrating the 4th and dressing up for our Mas(k)querade. Lights with Bikes: Calling all person-powered transportation! Starting at 9:00 pm, under the nearly full moon, experienced cyclists may ride down Frontside for our evening celebration [please note, this is recommended for experienced cyclists only, and note you ride at your own risk]. If you’re not keen on riding down Frontside, or your transportation requires a paved surface, simply meet up with the group at the Caboose (F Street by the Bridge) and make your way along the Lights with Bikes route. Bike Parade Route map 2020 may be downloaded here [pdf]. Salida Police will be enforcing a rolling blockade for your safety. Bikes, skates, skateboards and alike are welcome to participate in this person-powered activity. Sorry, no cars or walking allowed. No registration required. Simply be ready to participate by 9:00pm either at the Tenderfoot Mountain parking lot for the ride down Frontside to the Caboose. Or at the Caboose at 9:05pm to meet with the group for the remainder of the ride through town.
